Anne Riker Garlington
Writer, Marketing and Communications
Anne Riker Garlington is a Writer with the Marketing and Communications team in the Office of the Dean at the College of Public Health and Health Professions. A Gainesville native, Anne received her bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Florida. After a successful career in wealth management and banking, she retired from PNC Wealth Management. Anne then decided to postpone retirement and worked for 4 years in development for Ringling College of Art and Design. A firm believer in continuing education, she returned to UF for a Graduate Certificate in social media, then a master’s degree in communications, specializing in Public Interest Communications. Anne and her husband, Mike, have two daughters. The oldest graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in criminology and in January 2024, will begin the master’s program in Forensic Medicine through UF College of Medicine. Their youngest daughter is in her fourth year at UF, studying behavioral neuroscience; and is considering where to obtain both a master’s and Ph.D. degrees. Anne’s hobbies are family, travel, history, art, and exercise. Their family has a cat named Maxie and a Boston Terrier named Fenway.
As a writer, she assists the Communications Director with storytelling, strategic communication efforts, and content creation for the college. She enjoys embracing her creative side and strives to provide intriguing content to advance the mission of PHHP. She is passionate about promoting the incredible achievements of PHHP alumni, faculty, staff, and students.
