Jeff Boissoneault, Ph.D., an assistant professor of clinical and health psychology, received the Research Society on Alcoholism Early Career Investigator Award.

Linda B. Cottler, Ph.D., M.P.H., FACE, dean’s professor of epidemiology and senior associate dean for research, and Catherine W. Striley, Ph.D., M.S.W., ACSW, M.P.E, an associate professor of epidemiology, along with Michael Gutter, Ph.D., associate dean for extension at UF IFAS, received the first place 2022 Association of American Medical Colleges Innovations that Bolster Community Trust in Science Award for their partnership with UF HealthStreet community health workers and UF IFAS Extension agents.

Duane Dede, Ph.D., a clinical professor of clinical and health psychology, and Sarah McKune, Ph.D., M.P.H., a research associate professor of environmental and global health, were awarded the UF Graduate School’s Graduate Education Diversity Champion Award for 2022.

David Fedele, Ph.D., an associate professor of clinical and health psychology, received UF’s 2021-2022 Doctoral Mentoring Award. Fedele and John Lednicky, Ph.D., a research professor of environmental and global health, received PHHP’s Doctoral Mentoring Award.

Jessica Kramer, Ph.D., OTR/L, an associate professor of occupational therapy, was named a Fellow of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Michael Moorhouse, Ph.D., director of the Bachelor of Health program and a clinical assistant professor of occupational therapy, was named the college’s Faculty Advisor/Mentor of the Year.

Deidra Pereira, Ph.D., ABPP, an associate professor of clinical and health psychology, was elected a fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine.

Peihua Qiu, Ph.D., a professor and chair of biostatistics was elected a fellow of the American Society for Quality.

Linda Struckmeyer, Ph.D., OTR/L, a clinical assistant professor of occupational therapy, was elected secretary of the American Occupational Therapy Association Board of Directors.

Elizabeth Wood, D.H.S., M.P.H., the college’s director of public health outreach and a clinical assistant professor of environmental and global health, received the UF International Center’s 2021 International Educator of the Year award in the junior faculty category. She is also the recipient of PHHP’s Undergraduate Teacher of the Year award.

Lusine Yaghjyan, Ph.D., M.D., M.P.H., an assistant professor of epidemiology, has been selected to serve a four-year term as a standing member of the National Institutes of Health’s Cancer Biomarkers Study Section Center for Scientific Review.

Rachel Yoho, Ph.D, a clinical assistant professor of environmental and global health, received a 2022 Rising Star Award from UF’s Center for Teaching Excellence.

The college recognized three outstanding employees as 2021 Employees of the Year: Aubrey Bonsal, an administrative specialist II in the dean’s office; Zoe Martusewicz, an administrative support assistant III in the department of epidemiology; and Garret Pogue, a fiscal assistant II in the department of physical therapy. All three also received UF Superior Accomplishment awards in the Health Science Center division, along with Amy Gandy, a research administration manager in the department of epidemiology; Victoria Houghton, an academic program specialist in the department of environmental and global health; Barbara Janowitz, a research administrator II in the dean’s office; Meredith Nappy, an academic assistant II, undergraduate programs in the dean’s office; and Jerne Shapiro, a lecturer in the department of epidemiology and lead epidemiologist for UF’s campus COVID-19 response. Shapiro was also awarded a university-level Superior Accomplishment Award.

The Society of Toxicology honored members of the department of environmental and global health with several awards at the society’s annual meeting. Zhoumeng Lin, B.Med., Ph.D., D.A.B.T., C.P.H., an associate professor, received the JOINN Biomere Outstanding Young Toxicologist Award. An article by Lin and Wei-Chun Chou, Ph.D., a research assistant professor, received two best paper awards from the Biological Modeling Specialty Section and the Risk Assessment Specialty Section. Qiran Chen, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow, received the Perry J. Gehring Biological Modeling Endowment Award, and Long Yuan, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow, received the Andersen-Clewell Trainee Award.

Students

Erta Cenko, a doctoral candidate in epidemiology, received the UF International Center’s Alec Courtelis Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Students. She is one of only three students to receive the 2021 award, which comes with a $2,000 prize.

Giovanna Mompremier, a master’s of public health student, was selected for UF’s 2022 Hall of Fame, the highest recognition given to student leaders at UF.
