Jeff Boissoneault, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the department of clinical and health psychology is a 2021 recipient of the University of Florida’s Excellence Award for Assistant Professors, one of the university’s top honors for junior faculty.

Linda B. Cottler, Ph.D., M.P.H., a dean’s professor of epidemiology and associate dean for research, received the Rema Lapouse Award for Achievement in Epidemiology, Mental Health and Applied Public Health Statistics from the Mental Health, Epidemiology and Applied Statistics sections of the American Public Health Association.

Stephanie Hanson, Ph.D., ABPP (Rp), a clinical professor and executive associate dean, received the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Division of Rehabilitation Psychology of the American Psychological Association (Division 22).

Arch Mainous, Ph.D., a professor in the department of health services research, management and policy, received the Maurice Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research from NAPCRG, the leading primary care research association in the world.

Susan Nittrouer, Ph.D., a professor in the department of speech, language, and hearing sciences; Joanna H. Lowenstein, Ph.D., a research assistant professor in the department of speech, language, and hearing sciences; and Joseph Antonelli, Ph.D., an assistant professor in UF’s department of statistics, received the 2021 Editor’s Award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) for their article published last year in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research’s language section.

The American Physical Therapy Association selected four department of physical therapy faculty members for national awards. Jason Beneciuk, P.T., D.P.T., Ph.D., M.P.H., a research assistant professor, received the Eugene Michels New Investigator Award. Mark Bishop, P.T., Ph.D., FAPTA, an associate professor, received the Lucy Blair Service Award. Elisa Gonzalez-Rothi, D.P.T., Ph.D., a research assistant professor, was awarded the Margaret L. Moore Award for Outstanding New Academic Faculty Member. Claudia Senesac, Ph.D., received the Societal Impact Award.

Students

Francesca Lopez, a doctoral student in clinical psychology, received the 2021 American Psychological Association’s Walter G. McMillen Memorial Award for Parkinson’s Disease Research.

The national organization Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity, or COTAD, presented its COTAD Chapter of the Year Award for 2021 to the Gator COTAD Chapter in recognition of their efforts to address issues surrounding diversity and inclusion within the field of occupational therapy.
