Meryl Alappattu, Ph.D., D.P.T., a research assistant professor in the department of physical therapy, was appointed to the advisory board for the International Pelvic Pain Society and is the 2018 recipient of the Lucy Blair Service Award from the American Physical Therapy Association.

Russell Bauer, Ph.D., a professor in the department of clinical and health psychology, received the 2017-2018 UF Doctoral Mentoring Award.

Mark Bishop, Ph.D., P.T., an associate professor in the department of physical therapy, was named a 2018 Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association, the association’s highest honor.

Babette Brumback, Ph.D., a professor in the department of biostatistics, was elected to serve as a member of the International Biometric Society Eastern North American Region’s regional committee for a three-year term.

Xinguang “Jim” Chen, M.D., Ph.D., a professor in the department of epidemiology, was named a fellow of the American College of Epidemiology.

Linda B. Cottler, Ph.D., M.P.H., chair of the department of epidemiology and PHHP’s associate dean for research, was elected to the board of directors of the Association for Clinical and Translational Science for a three-year term.

Kim Dunleavy, Ph.D., P.T., an associate clinical professor and director of professional education and community engagement in the department of physical therapy, was elected a distinguished fellow of the National Academy of Practice in Physical Therapy.

Nicole Ennis, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the department of clinical and health psychology, was appointed to the American Psychological Association’s Continuing Education Committee for a three-year term.

Truly Hardemon, an instructional designer in the dean’s office, was named the college’s 2017 Employee of the Year. She also received a UF Superior Accomplishment Award, along with Rebecca Harty, the business manager in the department of occupational therapy; Amy Ladendorf, the assistant director of education in the department of physical therapy; Lorie Martin, the associate director of human resources in the dean’s office; and Catherine Price, Ph.D., an associate professor in the department of clinical and health psychology.

Kenneth J. Logan, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, an associate professor in the department of speech, language, and hearing sciences, was appointed to the editorial board of the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology.

Taylor Price, an academic program specialist in the department of speech, language, and hearing sciences, received the UF Office of Undergraduate Affairs’ 2017-2018 Outstanding New Advisor Award.

Michael Robinson, Ph.D., a professor in the department of clinical and health psychology, was named a UF Research Foundation Professor for 2018-2021.

Kathryn Ross, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the department of clinical and health psychology, won first place in The Obesity Society’s Lightning Talk competition.

Linda Struckmeyer, Ph.D., OTR/L, a clinical assistant professor in the department of occupational therapy, was elected chair of the Florida Occupational Therapy Educational Consortium.

Student awards

Rebecca Austin-Datta, a One Health Ph.D. student in the department of environmental and global health, was accepted into the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Science Ambassador Fellowship program.

Marie Chardon, Allyson Diggins and Jacqueline Maye, doctoral students in the department of clinical and health psychology, won Dissertation Research Awards from the American Psychological Association.

Zhaoyi Chen, a doctoral student in epidemiology, received the 2018 UF Informatics Institute Graduate Student Fellowship.

Liselotte de Wit, a doctoral student in the department of clinical and health psychology, was awarded a fellowship from the Alzheimer Nederland Foundation to collaborate with researchers at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

Raele Robison, a doctoral student in rehabilitation science, received first place for her poster presentation at the Dysphagia Research Society Meeting.

Kai Yang, a doctoral student in biostatistics, received a Young Investigator Award from the American Statistical Association’s section on Statistics in Epidemiology.

Marissa Valentine-King, a One Health Ph.D. student in the department of environmental and global health, was named one of three “Students Who Rocked Public Health in 2017” by JPHMP Direct, the companion site of the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice.

Jessica Zakrzewski, a doctoral student in the department of clinical and health psychology, received the International Neuropsychological Society’s 2018 Student Liaison Committee Research Award.
