Lindsey Stevens named PHHP’s development director

Stevens Lindsey 8-12 -029WCCLindsey Stevens has been named the College of Public Health and Health Professions’ director of development and external affairs. In this role she directs the college’s fundraising efforts and alumni activities.

“Private support is essential to the college’s success,” said Michael G. Perri, Ph.D., dean of the college and the Robert G. Frank endowed professor of clinical and health psychology. “Lindsey brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to this role, as well as an ability to build relationships with donors and connect them to the projects they are passionate about.”

A UF public relations alumna, Stevens most recently served as the assistant director of development and alumni affairs at UF’s College of Journalism and Communications. Prior to that, she worked as a public relations and alumni affairs assistant for the UF College of Nursing.

“The most rewarding part of working in development is the people, their stories, and helping them achieve something so meaningful to them,” Stevens said. “Being a part of the entire development process from the first meeting to seeing the gift come to flourish is absolutely amazing. Whether it is a scholarship being awarded to a student or the launch of a new center or program, to be a part of the process and to know that these gifts are making a difference is so gratifying.”

In her first several months at the college Stevens is meeting with as many of the college’s alumni, donors and friends as possible to thank them for their support, educate them about the college’s activities and find ways to get them involved.

“I am so excited, honored and proud to be a part of the College of Public Health and Health Professions and to help advance the college’s mission and goals,” she said. “I am enjoying learning about the fascinating work of the college’s faculty and students as well as what the alumni are doing after they leave the college, which is impressive to say the least.”
