Alanna (Cooley) Baker, bachelor’s in health science ’00 and master’s in physical therapy ’01, is the outreach program coordinator at Duke Sports Medicine in Durham, N.C. She was awarded the designation Postural Restoration Certified by the Postural Restoration Institute, which requires multiple advanced PRI courses, demonstration of a thorough understanding of the science and successful participation in clinical and analytical testing.

Stacy Koser Carmichael, doctorate in clinical psychology ’03, has joined the non-profit organization ChildServe, located in Johnston, Ia. She is trained in the use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and offers an autism assessment clinic as well as behavior consultation and general pediatric psychology clinics. She received the Keith Briscoe Alumni Award from her undergraduate alma mater, Buena Vista University, in 2011.

Su-Anne Robyn Charlery, master’s in public health ’10, recently passed her qualifying exams for doctoral candidacy at the University of Georgia. Last fall she received a student award from the American Public Health Association’s Population, Reproductive and Sexual Health Section for her research on sexual risk behaviors and alcohol use in Saint Lucian adolescents.

Kenneth Cox, doctorate in audiology ’03, has been named dean of the Waldron College of Health and Human Services at Radford University in Radford, Va. He most recently served as the college’s associate dean and interim chair of the department of communication sciences and disorders.

Katherine “Kati” (Mudd) Dengler, bachelor’s in health science ’04, received her medical degree from Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. in 2008 and completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. A captain in the U.S. Army, she  is currently stationed in Yongsan, Seoul, South Korea at the 121 Combat Support Hospital where she works as an OB/GYN physician.

Thomas DiMarco, bachelor’s ’99 and master’s ’04 in occupational therapy, graduated in 2012 with an occupational therapy doctorate degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He is currently pursuing a second career in occupational therapy education.

Sara Alvarez Galloway, bachelor’s ’05 and master’s ’07 in communication sciences and disorders, opened a private practice in St Augustine, Fla. She is experienced with sign and spoken language development in children who are deaf and hard of hearing, and mentoring families of children with hearing loss, as well as stroke and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation.

Mack Hicks, doctorate in clinical psychology ’64, has published a new novel, “The Sheltering Tower,” which features a Homeland Security agent/psychologist who uncovers a government conspiracy, and a Florida priest who is trying to save his church from bankruptcy.

Julie (Ganio) Lewerenz, bachelor’s in health science ’08, graduated in May 2012 with a doctorate in audiology from the University of South Florida. She recently opened a private practice in Tampa. Her services include hearing and tinnitus evaluations, hearing aid dispensing, and custom hearing protection and swim plugs.

Joe Mullany, master’s in business administration/master’s in health administration ’90, joined Detroit Medical Center as president in April 2012. He oversees Detroit Medical Center’s strategic positioning for health care reform and the building of its ambulatory network. He previously served as president of Vanguard Health Systems’ New England region.

Shelley (Brouillard) Murphy, bachelor’s in health science ’07, graduated from the Florida State University College of Medicine. She is now completing her pediatric residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in Orlando.

Michael Patronis, master’s in business administration/master’s in health administration ’97, was promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force on January 3, 2013 at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Tex. He is chief of the Medical Support Division at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command.

Cindy Prins, master’s in public health ’06, and William Walders, master’s in health administration ’07, are the PHHP recipients of UF’s 2013 Outstanding Young Alumni Awards. Prins is a clinical assistant professor in UF’s department of epidemiology and director of the epidemiology doctoral program. Walders is the chief information officer of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the Department of Defense’s largest hospital.

Jamie Walker-Fairclough, master’s in public health ’03, was appointed assistant dean for assessment at the Gregory School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
